The straw houses we build are frame houses, meaning that the loads are transferred to the foundation through the wooden frame elements. Straw bales are used only as a material for insulating the walls and do not participate in the load distribution. Therefore, when designing and building a straw building, the usual principles of designing and building frame houses apply. We have built many straw buildings and over time have improved our working methods and structural units. Today, we can offer various technical solutions for partitions for economic/auxiliary buildings, as well as for high-energy class residential buildings. Even before the start of the design, during consultations, we will offer at least several possible straw wall construction and finishing solutions, and the customer will only have to choose according to their wishes and capabilities. We can also design and install straw floors and a straw-insulated roof structure.
The construction of a straw wall depends on the thermal conductivity, tightness and other requirements for the external wall. The simplest and cheapest solution is a double wall frame filled with straw. However, when constructing a high-energy class building, straw filling alone in walls with clay plaster finish on the inside and plaster or siding finish on the outside may not be enough and the wall may need to be additionally insulated using one of the methods shown below. These units are exemplary, the exact wall construction is modeled in each case separately.
Straw panel houses meet the requirements of class A++. A high-quality straw house is as durable as conventional frame, log, and even modern brick buildings.
